Teaching culture through CULTURE. Students will be working with authentic materials then they will be able to learn culture and eliminate stereotypes. Our model removes the teacher as the "cultural authority", it is based on active learning, increases motivation/engagement and promotes real intercultural awareness (understanding/competence). Our goal is to avoid unsuccessful models for teaching culture such as The 4 F Approach: Folk dances, festivals, fairs and foods. The Frankenstein Approach: A taco from here, a flamenco dancer from there, a bullfight from there.
