Wendy Timmons
Vanderbilt University PhD Candidate
I am an aspiring German language professor and cinema studies scholar. I received my undergraduate degree from Montclair State University and my Master’s degree from the University of Maryland. I currently study at Vanderbilt University and will complete my PhD in not only German Studies, but also Comparative Media, Analysis and Practice. My research interests include aesthetics, feminism, and transnationalism, especially within the context of early German cinema. My dissertation examines the collage, montage, and film works by Marianne Brandt, Hannah Höch, and Lotte Reiniger in order to investigate the status of femininity in their respective, Weimar-era art communities (namely, the Bauhaus, Dada, and animation/film).
